Tuesday 17th May 1837. Fine & bright. Walked down Trinity St to the Market Sq. Bought 3 oz of fine Latakia at the pipe~shop. Tried on Top-Hat. Plenty of room for beetles !! Purchased same for 8/6d.
Went to the stall opp. Guildhall where certain periodicals are available to favoured clients. Obtained the latest edition of Natural Selections with illustrations using the Wet Collodion process. Paid 2 gns. Carefully concealed same inside copy of Entomology Today. Returned to rooms. Sported my Oak.
