Venez donc

Is that you Jean Paul ?

Cries Claudette from her barred room

The gibbous moon waxes insolently

While night scents waft from the locked garden

And docile lizards scutter aimlessly

Under the listless owl's gaze

It is sixty years since brother & sister
Played together in the garden

Swinging from the apple tree

Up up up

Claudette does not recall the
Terrible day when Jean Paul
Fell out of the chestnut tree
While trying to retrieve Claudette's kite
She was helping Maman in the cuisine
When the branch broke
